 Who we are:

ShimaHR consultants Ltd is a Human Resource Consulting and Outsourcing Company that is currently managing the Human resource component of multiple clients in South Sudan and East African region.

ShimaHR Consultant is currently looking for an Investment Officer for one of her client in a private equity investment offering risk capital to profitable private sector enterprises in South Sudan. The company was established in mid-2012 as a joint venture between Norfund and Swedfund. They support the SME sector in South Sudan by offering financing of between US$ 50K – 1million USD in form of loans with equity features, mezzanine financing and equity investments. Bigger deals may be co-financed with the shareholders. they also offer Technical Assistance (TA) to investee companies if and when necessary i.e. training, management support, governance, etc and play an active role in following up on investments. To support the management of our growing portfolio and to harness the immense investment potential that exists within South Sudan. The successful candidate will report to the Chief Executive Officer

 THE ROLE

You will be expected to contribute to the growth of the organization through information gathering, financial analysis and modelling, and project follow up. You will also be responsible for evaluating TA needs in the portfolio and execute the necessary follow up and reporting. Working very closely with the Chief Investment Manager and under his guidance, your will be expected to:

 

  1. a) Deals origination, management and exit

❑ Establish deal flow

❑ Participate in managing deal progress from inception to exit, against agreed timelines. This will entail:

  • Evaluating investment proposals from potential clients for preliminary discussion with the Chief Executive Officer
  • Preparing and presenting papers
  • Analysing companies from a financial, operational, and industry perspective
  • Executing field work to support the due diligence processes
  • Managing the commitment and disbursement procedures
  • Managing the performance of investments under your responsibility including monitoring and reporting during the investment life
  • Maintaining up to date information in archives and portfolio management systems;
  • Monitoring the performance of investments, including the required reporting (valuations etc.)
  • Managing compliance with ESG covenants and to increase awareness of the issues with a view to helping clients reach international standards
  • Together with client companies, evaluate the need for TA assistance, and be responsible for implementation, follow up and the necessary reporting.
  1. b) Administration

You will be expected to assist with the administration of the office, as agreed with the CEO including input in the preparation of corporate plans and budgets, completion of requests for information, compliance with the Shareholders internal audit standards, etc.

  • You will be expected to carry out your duties according to organization’s Code of Conduct
  • You will be expected to travel within South Sudan

REQUIREMENTS

This position will suit a self-driven individual who is excited by the vast number of development opportunities available in South Sudan. The position presents you with an opportunity to take part in building the private sector in South Sudan as well as your own career!

The requirements for this position are:

❑ A Bachelor’s degree or above in economics, finance, accounting or a related field. Professional qualifications related to financing and Private Equity/ Venture investments is an advantage

❑ Professional qualification such as CPA and CFA are also an advantage.

❑ 4-5 year’s relevant business experience. This experience could be in SME financing, corporate banking, private equity/venture capital

❑ Experience of working in post conflict areas will be an advantage

❑ Computer literacy with experience of Microsoft Office Suite and, in particular financial modelling in excel
